Responsible person liability

A responsible person is 100% liable for trust fund taxes (employment taxes withheld from workers' paychecks). According to one court, an owner can be liable even if the co-owner was the person primarily responsible for signing checks and paying taxes. Essentially, a responsible person for this tax penalty is someone with the authority to sign checks and decide which bills to pay.
